Clients often ask me the same questions and I love answering them, but I thought there had to be an easier way to let everyone know all of the important information at one time. So I decided to do a series of blog posts related to each type of session that I photograph and in each post will be everything you need to know about that type of session!!
First up in this series, everything you need to know about high school senior sessions!
Here are some things to think about BEFORE your session...
Schedule your session early: I always recommend scheduling your session the summer before your senior year. Summer tends to be a good time to schedule because the kids have more free time and they are excited about the year ahead! The fall of your senior year is also a good time to schedule, although with school and extracurricular activities, it gets a little tricky to schedule the session at a convenient time for everyone. Just make sure you are aware of any yearbook and sports program deadlines because you don't want to miss those! You should always schedule your session 1 month in advance as my schedule fills up fast.
Pick a location that means something to you: When picking a location I think it's best to pick a place that has meaning to you in some way. For example, if you play football and want to wear your jersey in some photos we should do part of the session at the high school football field. If you like shopping we should go to Main Street in Hudson or Chagrin Falls. The location should represent who you are right now, I have plenty of suggestions so feel free to ask if you need help picking the best spot!
Wear something you are comfortable in: This one is so important!! If you aren't wearing something that you are comfortable in it will show in the photos and you won't be happy with them. Bring a few outfits you love so we can capture a few different looks. I also think it's fun to bring a t-shirt with the name of the college you are going to attend, you can use that photo as a fun way to announce to everyone where you will be starting the next chapter of your life!
Pre-Session Questionnaire: About a week before your session I will send over the session prep questionnaire as well as the photography session agreement! These two documents are super important and so helpful when preparing for your amazing senior experience!
What happens DURING your session...
The session should last up to an hour: Plan for the session to last 45 minutes to an hour long. We will have so much fun the time will just fly by!!
Outfit Changes and Props: There will be plenty of time for a few outfit changes. I recommend bringing no more then 3 outfits so we have more time to get amazing photos! Feel free to bring any props you want that represent your high school years too!
What happens AFTER your session…
Facebook Preview: A few days after your session I will post a sneak peak of a few photos on Facebook and Instagram! Be sure and “Like” my facebook page (www.facebook.com/darcyfinephotography) and follow me on Instagram (@darcyfinephoto) so you can see when the photos are posted!
Final Gallery: Your final gallery will be delivered between 7-14 days after your session. You can order prints straight from your gallery and they will be delivered right to your door! You will have an entire month to purchase photos before your gallery expires. But I am sure you will be so excited to order prints that you won’t need the full month!
So, how does all of that sound? Are you ready to book your session?
